Talking Points: "Unlearning the Myths That Bind Us," By: Christensen

1. “No one wants to admit that they’ve been “handled” by the media”

If you take a look at how kids are dressing, the way they are talking, and how they present themselves, you can probably assume that they are getting it from the media. While they might not admit it, it is most likely true. It is true when we say that television, video games, face book, twitter, and etc are influencing the way that people go about there day.

2. “I want my students to question “
3. “..I provided them the opportunity to make a difference

These two quotes can go hand in hand with each other. To me, if the student isn’t asking questions, then most likely they don’t really understand what they’re being taught.  Asking questions is one of the most vital points in the learning process. It shows at the student in inferring what they already know to what they want to know.

  1. I really liked her whole concept of asking questions. You are right that it is a powerful tool in education, no matter what the subject. If we are not asking questions then we are not engaged and learning. It is a natural part of the discovery process.
